About
Richard is a Montana-based fine art photographer whose work reflects a lifelong pursuit of beauty, resilience, and quiet revelation in the natural world. Based in Montana, his artistic path has been shaped by formal study in fine art at university, an apprenticeship under renowned sculptor Joseph Moss, and a lifelong immersion in the natural world, driven by a deep affinity for remote landscapes and the discipline of seeking them out.
Unlike staged or highly orchestrated wildlife imagery, where animals are deliberately herded towards a waiting photographer, Richard’s photographs are created through time and patience. He spends days—often weeks—each season in Yellowstone National Park, waiting for authentic encounters, particularly with bison, to emerge naturally. No sets, no manipulation—only what the land and its wildlife reveal.
His photography blends precision with restraint, inviting viewers into moments of stillness, tension, and quiet power. Exhibited in galleries across the United States, his work explores the intersection of endurance and beauty, offering images that are as much about lived experience as they are about visual form.
Richard lives near Bozeman, Montana.
